LMUD HAS $850,000 DOLLARS IN THE PUBLIC BENEFITS FUND

AND DENIES WESTWOOD HIGH SCHOOL $10,000

An energy audit conducted by Cal Air stated that the retrofitting of lights at Westwood High School would be more energy efficient. The total cost of the energy efficient upgrades would be $72,000.

LMUD could only come up with $25,000. LMUD can authorize up to 50% of a projects cost. Now we must remember that LMUD needed to hire a $45,000 a year new employee to distribute this money. Our money. Money that was taken from our utility bills and set aside by state mandate for programs like this.

This is a travesty that all of the $72,000 wasn't given to the school. If LMUD doesn't use this money, they lose it.  So why does all of this public benefit money sit and rot in the bank?  Just a thought.
